Cropping Tools
Digital cameras and classical cameras work with differing ratios of sides -- 4:3 and 3:2 respectively. When cropping digital photos in preparation for submission to a lab, etc., it is a good idea to ensure a ratio of sides such that the lab not be forced to crop it (often accidentally eliminating an important part of the photo, or even text you have added to the photo) or give it white borders to make it fit.
Thus classical image cropping is supplemented in Zoner Photo Studio with a function for cropping to a ratio so that you can adjust shots’ ratios of sides to suit digital photography (4:3) or classical photography (15:10, 13:9, etc.).
To get a better idea of how your photo will look after cropping, Zoner Photo Studio darkens the areas that will be removed in the crop; you can set how strong this effect is.
The cropping tool can also display a grid of lines for the golden mean or for thirds and for the center of the photo; all these help you fine-tune its composition.
