Selections
It's probably occurred to you that some of the time, some enhancements will only appropriate for part of an image. There are four different tools you can use to specify which part of an image to affect with Zoner Photo Studio's enhancement functions. These tools are:
rectangular selection
lasso -- freeform selection
polygonal lasso -- selection by drawing a series of connected lines
magic wand -- selection of contiguous or, if desired, non-contiguous pixels whose similarity to a pixel of your choice falls within a tolerance value
You can connect, cut away from, and otherwise combine selections made using all of these tools. Advanced users will find many opportunities to put these tools to use. A typical one is e.g. selective editing of exposure for a skyline without affecting the rest of a picture, or creating the impression of a low depth of field.
Certain functions for selecting parts of images are not contained in the Classic, Home, and Xpress versions; for more information, see the version comparison table.
